Barnt Green Choral is a now well into the final term of rehearsals leading to its major concert of the year – THE ARMED MAN by Karl Jenkins and SONG OF THE UNIVERSAL by Ola Gjeilo.  It’s all coming together very well.  We are now putting on the final polish, and the choir can already feel the intensity, reflectiveness, and depth of the music. It’s going to be a really great concert at The Artrix Theatre, Bromsgrove on 28 March 2026.

The choir’s busy Christmas programme commenced with a Chamber Choir from Barnt Green Choral singing the annual Memorial Service at Waseley Hills Crematorium on 9 December.  This uplifting service was attended by many families bereaved in the last 12 months, some grieving and some giving thanks for the life of their deceased loved one.  Many found great comfort and solace from the singing, and this event has now become a regular feature of Barnt Green Choral’s calendar.

We are now working hard in preparation for our Christmas Concert which will be held at 3.00pm on Saturday 13 December at St Andrew’s Church, Sandhills Road, Barnt Green.  The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins has temporarily been put to one side and we are preparing such Christmas classics as ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ by Paul McCartney, ‘I wish you Christmas’ by Sir John Rutter, ‘Christmas Jazz’, and’ Winter Wonderland’.  All this as well as the normal traditional Christmas carols everyone loves singing.

After another year of major success, Barnt Green Choral has taken steps to strengthen further both its organisation and capability.  In 1951 the founders would never have dreamed that 75 years later the choir would still be going from strength to strength.  For seven and a half decades the Bromsgrove arts scene has been enhanced by the choir’s splendid renditions of some of the world’s best choral music.

The 2025 – 2026 Season is going to be a massive year of joy, happiness, and celebration for Barnt Green Choral.   It is our 75th anniversary !
